Harlan E. Willis, 85, of Palmer, AK died Thursday, June 27th at a Palmer care center. Services will be held on Saturday July 6th at 11AM, at the Birch Harbor Baptist Church, Mile 5 Knik- Goose Bay Rd, Wasilla, AK, Pastor Jeff Offord will officiate.

Harlan was born on July 23, 1927 in Franklin, Ohio to Burlin and Eunice (Sargent) Willis. He graduated High School and attended 3 yrs of Bible College. Harlan also served 3 years as a Merchant Marine.

Harlan became a resident of Alaska in 1947 residing in Anchorage, Nondalton, Egegik, Dillingham, and Palmer, AK.

Harlan worked 4 years as a Power Lineman in Ohio, 5 years for the City of Anchorage, served 30 years as a Missionary, and was an electrical contractor for 8 years. Harlan was self-employed as a Electrical Contractor until 1999.

Harlan was very active in his church and was affiliated with the Independent Baptist Church. Hobbies include flying and woodworking.

Harlan loved preaching the Gospel and had a great love of life. He loved being with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Avanelle, of Eagle River, AK; Son, Harlan E. Willis Jr., Dillingham, AK; Daughters Melba Willis Taylor, Olney, IL; Annette Willis Mastick, Hampton, VA; Son Steve Willis, Wasilla, AK; Daughter Mary Smith, Homer, AK; Son Tyler Willis, Wasilla, AK; Son Victor Willis, Eagle River, AK; Daughter Valarie Willis Nabinger, Eagle River, AK; Brother Wayne Willis, McMinville, OR; Sister Alice Marcum, Chatanooga, TN; 28 Grandchildren and 32 Great Grandchildren. HE was preceded in death by His parents; 2 brothers, Walter Lee And Darrel G. Willis; and 2 sisters, Jeanie O'Dell and Naoma Kallner.

Valley Funeral Home and Crematory, Wasilla AK, is in charge of arrangements.
