Coast Guard officials say that they have suspended a search for a man who fell overboard from the commercial fishing vessel Alaska Victory 110 miles west of Togiak early today.

The Coast Guard's combined search effort included aircrews aboard two HC-130 Hercules aircraft and an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Air Station Kodiak covering more than 1,200 square miles.

Coast Guard Communication Station Kodiak received word at 6:45 a.m. by HF radio from a crewmember aboard the Alaska Victory reporting that a 55-year-old Japanese man fell overboard at 6:30 a.m., with no survival gear or life jacket on.

Weather conditions in the search area were six to eight foot seas, wind speed of 20 miles an hour and an air temperature of 42 degrees.
